In July 2022 at HMP Five Wells we ran a ‘play in a week’ residential project that introduces a group to acting, performance and a collaborative devising process across 5 intensive days.
In partnership with an extraordinary, energised and creative group of sixteen, we created The Best Thing That Never Happened, performed on the final day to a packed audience of visitors, prison staff and other residents.
The Best Thing That Never Happened was an anthology piece that explored ideas around hope and chance asking how we keep betting on ourselves when the going gets tough.
There was two things I wanted to achieve - come out of my shell, and to build my confidence. I feel like I've achieved both of those in bucketloads.
