ReadConnect at HMP Downview
The tiktok above talks you through our day delivering a ReadConnect workshop in partnership with the National Literacy Trust, April 2023.
ReadConnect is an NLT storytelling project that supports incarcerated men and women to connect with their children through storytelling. This workshop, as per the women at HMP Downview’s request, was focused on comic storytelling. Drawing on the women’s natural comic abilities and styles, we worked to build their confidence in understanding comic structure, tone and character.
We also connected with the HMP Downview family day, running a combined workshop for parents and children who were attending the family day.
